What is your background?
I am a Registered Psychologist with experience in supporting children, adolescents, and families in private practice settings. I also have experience working with individuals across the lifespan in private practice, university clinics, and outpatient hospital settings.
I tailor my approach to suit the individual needs of each client using a person-centered approach that draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT).
Why do you like working with children, adolescents, and their families?
I find working with children and adolescents to be incredibly rewarding and they have a wonderful sense of curiosity, energy, and insight into the world around them. I always love hearing about their interests and hobbies and enjoy the process of building rapport and connecting with them.
I am passionate about early intervention and value the opportunity to work collaboratively with families, educators/teachers, allied health professionals, and others involved in a child’s life. This helps ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to therapy while addressing therapeutic goals and solutions. I enjoy playfulness, humour, and creativity to make therapy engaging and supportive, while creating a space where children feel safe and understood.
What are your strengths?
I bring a sense of warmth, curiosity, and empathy to my work, I strive to create an open, non-judgemental, and safe space for my clients to share their concerns so that they feel understood and accepted for who they are. I am passionate about working alongside neurodivergent individuals through affirming, strength-based approaches that aligns with their unique perspectives and lived experiences.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love to spend time outdoors in nature, going on adventures, listening to and creating music, watching and playing football (soccer), playing video games, binge watching a good TV series, and learning more about the world around me. I am also grateful for having the opportunity to live in Japan for a year and a half when I was 12 years old, which sparked my interest in learning about different cultures, their customs, and especially their food!
