Tayla Roxborough

BA Psychological Science (Hons), M. Psychology (Educational and Developmental)

What is your background?

I love working with people across the lifespan! I have been lucky enough to work with many clients in a range of settings including both primary and secondary schools, private practice, university clinics and community health services.

We are all unique, so it makes sense to me to find unique ways to work with all the amazing people I meet! I tend to draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches such as attachment theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). I try to come up with the right blend so that I can meet my clients where they are at and provide the best fit for them.

Why do you like working with children, adolescents and their families?

I love the imagination, humour, and creativity that children and young people bring into the room – no two sessions are alike! I genuinely love hearing about their days, laughing at their jokes, and learning from their own interests.

I have a passion for early intervention and love working with stakeholders such as family, schools, teachers, Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists (and more) to ensure a holistic approach.

What are your strengths?

I consider myself to be a very warm, authentic and compassionate person, with a particular strength in building rapport with children and young people. I love to find creative and interactive ways to approach topics so that they feel relevant to them.

Getting to know my clients and their families is such a privilege and I feel honoured to be involved in their lives. It is so important to me that they feel safe and comfortable to share things and be themselves. I am very openminded and nonjudgmental and am dedicated to empowering my clients.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Most of my free time is taken up by my two mischievous and energetic dogs! I also love socialising with my friends and family through team sports, movie nights and finding new restaurants and trying delicious foods. When I want some quiet time I like to read books, listen to podcasts or do something creative.
