Lila Cassidy

BA Psychological Science (Hons), M. Psychology (Educational & Developmental)

What is your background?

I have an inquisitive nature and have always loved to hear people’s stories, and this definitely contributed to my attraction towards psychology. Throughout my journey completing my degree I have had the pleasure of working across a variety of settings with adults, young people and their families. I draw on theories of attachment, systems and development to inform my treatment approach, and aim to include a combination of therapeutic modalities to create a unique plan to suit each individual. I am also able to conduct assessments, and I enjoy being able to help individuals learn more about their strengths and support them to advocate for themselves in areas of difficulty.

Do you have any professional interest areas?

Attachment and parent child relationships are a strong interest area and passion of mine, and I love supporting parents to learn more about themselves and their children. I am a certified Circle of Security Parenting facilitator, and am also close to completing my registration in the Circle of Security Intensive individual model. I enjoy working with adolescents as this is such a rich developmental period which can include difficulty and pain, but also self-discovery and growth. Where appropriate depending on age and consent, I value involvement from a teen’s family, school or other key people in their lives to support their journey. Similarly, I am interested in supporting adults through transitional times in their lives. This often involves self-reflection and a focus on values and strengths.

What are your strengths?

I think I bring a genuine interest and warmth to therapy. The therapeutic relationship is the foundation of working together and so I highly value building trust and safety with my clients, and welcome ongoing feedback to ensure I am creating a comfortable space.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my spare time I enjoy laughing with friends, listening to music and podcasts, and going for walks along the river. I also enjoy experimenting in the kitchen…though this doesn’t always go to plan!
